Lunch Poems: Listowel Writers Week
Thursday: William Keohane & Jessica McKinney, introduced by Seán Hewitt Friday: Simon Costello & Sacha White, introduced by Victoria Kennefick Saturday: Dean Browne & Michael Dooley, introduced by Stephen Sexton The idea is simple: bring together two emerging poets who have been making a name for themselves over the last few years and get a near-contemporary to say a few words about them. These short, informal readings will bring some of the most interesting younger poets working in Ireland right now into the heart of Listowel. And we’re even going to give you, the audience, some lunch. The six chosen writers come from all corners of the island: William Keohane and Michael Dooley from Limerick, Jessica McKinney from Donegal, Simon Costello from Offaly, Sacha White from Fermanagh and Dean Brown from Cork. Their work will be familiar to poetry readers, but this will be the first time that most of them have appeared at Listowel. A short pamphlet of the poets’ work will accompany these reading, in a nod to the City Lights Poet Pockets Series, which included Lunch Poems by Frank O’Hara.
